Dear SB20 Sailors and Supporters,

I am honoured to have been elected as the new SB20 Class President, and to be the first Australian to hold this position. I am excited to be in this role as we resume our global SB20 sailing program following the testing times of the COVID-19 pandemic.

On behalf of the SB20 Class, I extend a hearty congratulations to SB20 Ireland and the Royal Irish Yacht Club for hosting such a successful world championship in 2022 and ask that you now put your full weight behind SB20 Netherlands as they prepare for the 2023 World Championship in Scheveningen, from 17-23 June 2023.

I look forward to working with fellow World Council members and SB20 Class Districts as we update our Constitution and incorporate the Class. We are also working towards improvement in the sales and parts distribution worldwide and will maintain our focus on compliance with the Class rules and reviewing these where appropriate.

Together, I believe, we can strengthen the Class within our existing Districts, and I look forward to working with and sharing ideas with my fellow World Council members to add new regions to our fleet. This work and your ideas will help us to consolidate the presence of the SB20 sportsboat on the world’s sailing stage and build sustainability across our fleets. And to that end, I urge all local Districts to engage with our online media platforms, to push out content from local events and share major events as they are sailed across the world. This approach demonstrates support and encouragement for each event and for marketing the advantages and success of SB20 sailing more broadly.

I offer my thoughts to the people of Ukraine as they endure a desperately difficult time in the war with Russia. It is my deepest hope that we see a peaceful and swift resolution to the conflict.

I would like to thank all World Council members, Class volunteers, and all organisations worldwide that make our Class such a success. I look forward to working with you in coming years.

Wishing you all fair sailing,

Scott Glanville
